3form is honored as top dealmaker

May 16, 2007 3form of Salt Lake City on Tuesday was presented the "2007 Dealmaker of the Year Award" at the Utah Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth's annual Capital Connection conference. The awards program, in its second year, is designed to recognize "significant success in achieving corporate growth through acquisition, joint venture, recapitalization and/or divestiture transactions. "Having recently completed a strategic acquisition by Hunter Douglas, 3form was selected as most closely matching ACG's focus in dealmaking in the middle-market in Utah in 2007," ACG said. 3form, launched in 2001, serves the design and construction industry by providing an environmentally friendly resin. Peterson Partners and Saturn Capital invested in 3form a year later. In a prepared statement, Mike Sharp, ACG Utah's president, said the award candidates were judged by a variety of criteria. "While all of the finalists were impressive, 3form really stood apart from other nominees in the company's ability to so perfectly represent ACG Utah's focus on excellence in merger and acquisition activity in Utah," he said. Finalists included 3form, Talley Goodson and Wynn Clayton; Altiris, Greg Butterfield; Back to Basics, Randy Hales; Diamond Rental, Mark Clawson and Steve Schaeffer; LANDesk, Joe Wang; MaxStream, Brad Walters; Mediconnect Global, Amy Rees Lewis; O'Currance Teleservices, Carla Meine; and Winder Dairy, Eric Jacobsen, Mike Dutton and Ken Jacquin. "When we first met Talley Goodson in 2002, we were impressed with his leadership style and abilities," Jordan Clements, managing partner of Peterson Partners and a former director of 3form, said in a prepared statement. "Looking back, it's hard to describe the height of the mountain he had to climb in turning 3form into the dynamic industry leader it is today. "He had to develop a strategy, recapitalize an underwater business, build a management team, create a new distribution channel and develop new products, all with limited resources. What stands out most in my mind is his ability to adjust strategy to changing market conditions."
